From East to West, Louis Vuitton Celebrates a Legacy of Design in Two Cities

As we near the anniversary of Louis Vuitton’s bicentennial birthday, the house’s iconic and reimagined celebration makes its way to America. Arriving just in time for high summer in the Hamptons and peak season in sunny Los Angeles, the globally traveled "200 Trunks, 200 Visionaires" exhibition features 200 imaginative trunks by 200 unique visionaries. Debuted at the home of Louis Vuitton in Asniéres, this showcase invites a range of talent and friends of the house, including Supreme, Peter Marino, and Alex Israel, to make their mark on the emblematic trunk.
On Shelter Island, Louis Vuitton staged a savoir-faire studio that spotlights the house’s heritage through an exclusive collection of exotic creations. From furniture to fine jewelry, this exceptional curation of craftsmanship displays signature bags in rare variations like the Capucines and Petit Malles alongside a suite completed with Objects Nomades and extensive house décor.
In honor of the studio’s official launch, the house hosted an intimate group of fashion folk at Sag Harbor’s Le Biblioquet. Guests including Lauren Santo Domingo, Derek Blasberg, Sophia Roe, Athena Calderone, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Tracy Anderson, Casey Fremont, Tanner Reese, Deon Hinton, and Coco Bassey, were welcomed to the Hampton’s institution with a towering raw bar and boundless caviar. Overlooking the water, Romy and Michael Bachman were spotted on the decks spinning upbeat tracks all night long.
Throughout the night, guests were transported by yacht to and from the studio space, which will be open through August 7.
While the party out east was winding down, the Beverly Hills launch event was just heating up. Samara Weaving, Ava DuVernay, Emma Chamberlain, Kaitlyn Dever, Iris Apatow, Jaden Smith, Ava Phillippe, Myha’la Herrold, Shay Mitchell, Nina Dobrev, Maria Bakalova, Alex Israel, Aleali May, Brittany Xavier were all spotted scoping the exhibition dressed in the latest Louis Vuitton ensembles.
A dramatic wall of colorful balloons and glasses of bubbly greeted guests upon arrival. Keeping the night alive across multiple rooms, Bobby French, M.I.A., and Lola Langusta curated the soundtracks for the buzzy evening. From LED trunks sporting mesmerizing 3-D designs to the archive and collaboration pieces, this immersive exhibition is every bit enchanting.
Starting today, the Beverly Hills 200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries showcase will be open for free entry through September 6.
Giving back is not lost on the house and contributors, many of whom donated their fees to further the future of young artists. Raising 2 million euros in its first phase, the LV200 project supports a series of 15 charitable organizations with a common mission to uplift emerging creative talent.
Whether you find yourself out east or shopping on Rodeo Drive, a visit to this tribute exhibition will transport you to the world of Louis Vuitton one trunk at a time.
