Mary J. Blige and Peter Dundas Hosted a Cozy Dinner With Revolve Ahead of the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show
A moment of pure gold (figuratively and literally)? Mary J. Blige’s opulent 2021 Met Gala look. The Power Book II: Ghost actor’s gown of the night featured a plunging neckline and an even more daring slit, embellished ever so intricately with sequins and crystals. The ensemble was engineered by Norwegian designer Peter Dundas, who accompanied Blige to the annual fundraising event—and just like that, a friendship was born. Fast forward to Friday night, the two came back together again to host a joint dinner with Revolve on the heels of an anticipated Super Bowl weekend.
Though a previously only a visitor to Los Angeles, this time Dundas threw the shindig as an official resident, having recently relocated to the city from London. Blige, on the other hand? Well, the nine-time Grammy award-winning singer was, of course, in town to headline the Super Bowl’s halftime show. “Some fly stuff is about to go down this Sunday,” she said on Friday night as guests settled in for a family-style dinner. The typical dining experience at the chosen location, San Vincent Bungalows, is characterized by its poolside, garden-style dining area, already exclusive and intimate, but Revolve, Blige, and Dundas one-upped the experience with a tucked-away private room instead.
Guests followed a viney path through to the night’s location, and were met inside with a candle-lit, white-rose adorned tablescape on one side; on the other, sofas allowed everyone to get lost in conversation, margaritas, and Blige’s own wine label, Sun Goddess Wines. The room may have been filled with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars—Taraji Henson, Ciara and Russell Wilson, Heidi Klum, Lori Harvey, and more—but the event unfolded so effortlessly and casually. There was no rushed dinner time, no assigned seating—this wasn’t your usual star-studded affair.
That Blige and Dundas hosted the night’s events alongside Revolve was no random pairing. Dundas’ relationship with the online retailer began during New York Fashion Week of September 2021 with a runway show debuting its first joint collection. The holiday season cued its second installment, and there is a Coachella-inspired collection soon to come.
The dinner also marked the start of Blige’s deepening relationship with the retailer as it debuted Sister Love, the singer’s shared jewelry line with longtime friend and designer Simone I. Smith. The collection is peak Blige, encapsulating the aesthetic fans have come to love from the fashion icon over her years-long career—that means statement styles come with a welcomed dose of drama (think, a signature chunky gold Mary J. Blige hoop).
Remember that tablescape? Gleaming candles and delicate floral arrangements weren’t the only decor. Tiny silver and blue gift boxes were dispersed throughout as well, inside each, a pair of oversized Sister Love earrings for a lucky guest. At Revolve, the collection launches with a pre-order for three exclusive earring styles, each blingy iteration of the duo’s best-selling Queen Hoops (the first-ever diamond pieces to the collection), and are set to launch February 14.
