Nicole Scherzinger Rushed From a Sunset Boulevard Matinee to Her Tony-Winning Night
Getting ready for the 2025 Tony Awards after a matinee performance of Sunset Boulevard, Nicole Scherzinger is trying to keep cool. “No matter what I’m doing—whether it’s preparing for a show or even a major red carpet like the Tonys, I try to set a zen environment,” Scherzinger told Vogue ahead of the awards show, where she took home the Tony for best performance by a leading actress in a musical. “For a performance, I always require ample time for a warm-up, while on the other hand for the red carpet, I’m often limited on time—especially today.”
Luckily, she has her team by her side the whole way. “I’m surrounded by loved ones today. That gives me strength and keeps me going even on the most stressful days,” she says.
To celebrate her nomination, Scherzinger wanted to pay homage to Old Hollywood glamour. With the help of her stylist, Michael Philouze, she turned to Los Angeles natives Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, who fashioned her a custom red dress for the occasion. Following her win, she changed into a black Versace dress from Albright Fashion Library, which she paired with Marli jewelry.
“Our Sunset colors are black and red, and I’ve worn a lot of black this season. The Tony Awards seemed like the right opportunity to switch it up and go red,” Scherzinger says. “I love Rodarte’s modern twist on Old Hollywood. There couldn’t be a better marriage to create a look that felt fresh but also classic representing the show.” Scherzinger completed her look with a teardrop necklace, earrings, and rings from Fred Leighton. “I immediately felt like Elizabeth Taylor when I put them on,” she says.
