The Pants-Less Trend Is Alive and Well at the 2025 Met Gala

No pants? At the 2025 Met Gala, no problem.

A number of high-profile guests showed up to the annual fundraiser wearing short shorts or, well, no shorts at all. Many of the looks came courtesy of Louis Vuitton: Helen Lasichanh, the wife of the night’s co-chair Pharrell Williams, wore a leather bodysuit over a pair of monogram tights. Lisa—fresh off her viral Coachella set and star turn in The White Lotus—made her Met Gala debut in a black jacket and embellished bikini briefs. Then along came Sabrina Carpenter in a burgundy unitard and a cropped collared blazer with tails.

But it wasn’t only Vuitton dressing its guests in a risqué fashion. Cynthia Erivo strutted on the red carpet in a dramatic high-low skirt with boy shorts and a train by Givenchy, while Charli XCX wore a skimpy gothic Ann Demeulemeester number.

And there’s Hailey Bieber, who has been rocking the sans-trousers look since 2022. She showed up to the 2025 Met Gala in a super-short Saint Laurent tuxedo dress, complete with a martini as an accessory.
