There is no denying it—patchwork is a trend that is not going out of fashion anytime soon. One of the most popular trends from the VOGUE World fall fashion trend report, which we dubbed the Neo-Bohemian trend, was jam-packed with patchwork clothing. Think skirts, coats, and dresses that appear pieced and cut and pasted together.

Brands such as Chloé, Marine Serre, and Ulla Johnson patched together fabrics in artful fashion for their Fall 2022 runways, offering a diverse array of fabrications and silhouettes. It’s a homespun aesthetic, whether quilted, patched, or paneled, that feels just right for the mood of the fall season.

In a rich, autumnal color palette, dresses, midi skirts, and jackets mix scalloped leathers, plaids, and quilting in warm shades of brown, yellow, and brick—perhaps inspired by the foliage that’s to come later this season. The end results are modern silhouettes that take notes from classic Americana—and this fall, wearing a mix is what matters.
