Last night on a terrace in downtown Manhattan, New York’s fashionable set savored the warm evening and surveyed Proenza Schouler’s collaboration with the iconic German automobile manufacturer Mercedes. (Down below, a white Mercedes-Benz glittered on the side of Bowery. Lit from above and surrounded by tall grasses, the car looked like an apparition amid the Lower East Side grunge.)
The gender-neutral knits and striped ponchos reflect an automotive palette of black, chartreuse, and beige. Recycled cashmere and eco-friendly T-shirts marry eco with luxury. The face of the campaign, Laura Dern, joined designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
“[McCollough and Hernandez] are so deeply passionate about sustainability,” Dern said. “I’m honored to be a part of it.” The collection, inspired by travel and the open road, is available on the website globally, Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, and Selfridges in London.
