Rosé, Ashley Park, Paloma Elsesser, and More Celebrated Sulwhasoo’s Partnership With The Met

Last night at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Sulwhasoo, the South Korean skincare juggernaut, staged a lavish evening to mark its year-long partnership with the museum. The event was co-hosted by the beauty brand’s global ambassadors, including K-pop superstar Rosé from Blackpink, Academy Award-winning actress Yuh-Jung Youn, and Chinese actress Jia Song.

The Met steps were lined with men in burnt amber suits, and as guests—including Paloma Elsesser, LaQuan Smith, Antoni Porowski, Charli XCX, Emily in Paris’ Ashley Park and Paul Forman—made their way through the majestic Temple of Dendur. For the occasion, the entire space was bathed in a warm, radiant glow of the same vibrant hue.

Whitney Dohauser, the deputy director and chief advancement officer of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, expressed her enthusiasm about the joint venture, telling Vogue, “We are delighted to celebrate our year-long partnership with Sulwhasoo, and as we cultivate our shared vision to promote the power of global heritage, we are grateful for their generosity and mission.”

During her opening statement, the Korean-born Yuh-Jung Youn, who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Minari, made a lighthearted remark about finally being in a room where people knew how to correctly pronounce her name.

The evening began with an electrifying set from DJ Mona Matsuoka, followed by a Korean food fare featuring a menu curated by Chef Junghyun Park—the mastermind behind the two-Michelin star restaurant Atomix. Attendees indulged in the savory flavors of traditional tteokgalbi, tuna bibimbap, and octopus naengchae, complemented by ginseng-infused cocktails by award-winning mixologist Leo Seo.

During the meal, guests were treated to a never-before-seen preview of their latest campaign titled “I Am Ginseng,” featuring their newest global ambassador Tilda Swinton. Afterward, contemporary dancers from the Ambiguous Dance Company (who were dressed in silver metallic suits and crystal-embellished statement glasses) delivered a special performance. Anderson Paak (who is also known by his disc jockey alter ego DJ Pee Wee) performed a soulful vinyl set, which featured an assortment of Y2K hits that evoked nostalgia among guests—prompting them to hit the dance floor. Attendees were also treated to an array of custom ginseng-infused cocktails by award-winning mixologist Leo Seo.

Sulwhasoo s partnership with The Met aims to celebrate global heritage by supporting various museum programs and activities. This includes sponsoring The Met s Women and the Critical Eye panel discussion and reception on April 13, 2023, which cultivates connoisseurship in women interested in the art world. In addition, Sulwhasoo will also support The Met s Apollo Circle Member group and the annual Apollo Circle Benefit, a black-tie fundraiser.
