Tired of the tattered jean shorts, the grungy gladiator sandals, and the face painting that’s ubiquitous at Coachella? Me too . . . that’s why Dree Hemingway on The Shady Side wins my vote (hands down) for best dressed in polished chili-pepper print Dolce Gabbana and a chain-strap cross-body bag. Showing just a little of her middle—and “little” is the operative word here—her look is a welcome, fresh approach to feminine festival dressing and makes it very clear that it’s all about a midriff-baring top right now. We saw it exposed on runways from Proenza Schouler to Miu Miu, and now that warmer weather is finally here, it’s time to break it out. One reminder, though, just because you’re going retro, there’s no excuse for not slathering on the SPF in this day and age, even when you’re only exposing a slither of skin!
And finally, keep it social and send us your own suggestions via Facebook and Twitter (@voguemagazine and @MMBVogue), so we can add them to the list next week.
