The Stars Were Aiming for Gold and Silver at the 2024 Met Gala 

At the 2024 Met Gala, many stars had gold and silver on their mind. Perhaps they were influenced by the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, or simply keenly aware that nothing looks better on camera than a well-made metallic look. Either way, those who decided to partake in the trend last night made the case that, sometimes, the best way to show up to a red carpet event is to outshine everyone else.

Amanda Seyfried’s custom silver Prada look was paired with a matching hairdo. Her usual golden locks became platinum blue for the evening, while a vine headpiece adorned the crown of her hair. For a spark of color, rosettes that matched the color of her lipstick bedecked the skirt of her gown. Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh who wore Balenciaga to the evening’s event also chose a shimmering silver strapless look to walk the carpet.

Serena Williams, who knows nothing but gold, also wore Balenciaga. She looked like a trophy—something she’s very familiar with. Others, like Sarah Jessica Parker and Rauw, opted for hints of metallic details rather than going full-on heavy metal. Rauw’s Ludovic de Saint Sernin suit was perfect to transition from the Met Gala to the after parties without a complete outfit change.
