At a Dinner Feting U Beauty, Paris Hilton Performed for the Starry Guests

While Los Angeles was abuzz with the news of the imminent arrival of Hurricane Hilary on Thursday night, that didn’t deter a glamorous crowd from gathering at The Maybourne Beverly Hills to fete their friend Tina Chen Craig. The former Bag Snob blogger turned beauty entrepreneur certainly had plenty to celebrate, including a birthday, a move back to Los Angeles after 22 years, and the launch of her U Beauty brand’s cult The Plasma Lip Compound, in a new range of shades.
The festivities took place at the elegant André Fu designed Maybourne Bar and kicked off with a bang courtesy of a live DJ set from DJ Tokyo Rose. Friends including Jennifer Meyer, sisters Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Paris Hilton, Tina Leung and Kimora Lee Simmons feasted on caviar, chicken dumplings, and truffle grilled cheese sandwiches (specially made for Nicky) along with custom cocktails called the Tina Tina skinny margarita and the Martina dirty vodka martini.
As the evening continued, Paris Hilton performed a karaoke rendition of her hit "Stars Are Blind,” prompting the crowd, including new mom Dree Hemingway, China Chow, and artist Alex Israel, to hit the dance floor. Cade Hudson then serenaded the newly single Craig with a version of Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know” before the hostess, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and is now recovered, hit the mic to sing Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.” Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet meanwhile had brought along singer-songwriter Jewel as both her plus one and a birthday gift and the Grammy award-nominated star sang “Happy Birthday” to Craig to the delight of the party as not one but four birthday cakes were wheeled out.
“It really is a full circle moment,” said Craig as she flitted in between tables in a sequin strapless Tory Burch mermaid dress and custom turquoise Jamie Wolf jewelry. “It wasn t until I moved to L.A. and I learned English that I really felt comfortable in my skin. This city is my happy place and now I m at this juncture in my life where I could live anywhere like Paris or London, I just want to be here. I was meant to be a California blonde.”
