Inside Jason Wu’s Victor/Victoria Halloween Party 

“I haven’t done in Halloween in eight years, so when I do it, I do it right,” Jason Wu told Vogue on Friday night at Le Chalet bar at Saks Fifth Avenue’s L’Avenue. “This year, I’m channeling Marlene Dietrich. I’m channeling Sasha Velour. Oh, and I’m channeling Jason Wu realness. Okurr?” Sporting a ruffled tulle blouse, a floral headdress, and a full face of makeup done to the nines, Wu was just one of the many partygoers who fit the evening’s theme, Victor/Victoria, based on the 1982 musical starring Julie Andrews in which she masquerades as the well-heeled Count Victor Grazinski.

Tina Leung, who cohosted with Wu alongside Phillip Picardi and David Vivirido, opted for a split down the middle. Sporting a Junya Wantanabe gown, sourced at Dover Street Market, that measured equal parts denim overalls and taffeta wedding dress, she accessorized the right side of her face with a handlebar mustache, sideburns, and a bold brow. “All of this hair and makeup took about three hours,” Leung told us. “There was some trial and error, since we created everything from scratch, and everything I googled was pretty scary, so we had to be the inspiration ourselves. We all got ready at Jason’s with some bubbly, pizza, [and] music, so getting ready was a party in itself.”

With tunes spun by Silvia Prada, the dance floor quickly filled, with some ditching their heels in the corner. Though Pose star Dominque Jackson, wearing a whimsical Jason Wu cocktail dress, soldiered on in her sky-high red stilettos. “It’s about time that we stepped into this world,” she told us. "We should be so confident in ourselves that it is okay to look at other people and say, ‘You do you.’ It’s not about tolerance, or about acceptance, it’s about respect!”
