Vogue100 Stepped Inside the Awe-Inspiring World of David Webb

On the third evening of New York Fashion Week, the Vogue100 braved the frosty temperatures and made their way to David Webb’s flagship maison for an intimate evening of cocktails, couture, and craftsmanship.
Housed in a former bank building on Madison Avenue, the Upper East Side townhouse retains its stately grandeur and unmistakable old school New York elegance. Upon arrival, guests were escorted to the second floor, where David Webb co-owner Tara Rowghani welcomed them alongside friend of the house Georgina Chapman, founder of Marchesa, who stood among a curation of her romantic gowns, which were styled with bold, sculptural jewels.
Throughout the evening, models circulated the rooms in flowing Marchesa silhouettes adorned with David Webb’s signature goldwork, enamel, and iconic animal motifs; the intricate embroidery providing a striking counterpoint to Webb’s statement pieces.
As Champagne flowed and conversations deepened, familiar faces stopped by to share a toast—including Wendi Deng Murdoch and Chapman’s partner, Adrien Brody. Guests were invited in small groups to explore the mezzanine archives where historic pieces worn and loved by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis were showcased alongside other treasures that speak to the house’s enduring relationship with cultural icons and high society.
The evening concluded in the workshop itself, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the precision, artistry, and meticulous detailing that defines each David Webb creation. More than a cocktail reception, the gathering was a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and the enduring dialogue between fine jewelry and fashion in one of New York’s most storied settings.
