I m with Marc Jacobs. I m very lucky.

How are you, Marc?

I m well, Billy. How are you?

I m great. So just tell us what you re wearing,

and how you chose it,

and clearly, you ve designed it.

Gee, well, I was gonna wear a tuxedo,

which I thought would actually be the most subversive thing

to wear for punk, but then I kind of got all dressed

and I thought like, Nah, I m not gonna make it

through the evening in a tuxedo.

So I decided to wear this Comme des Garcons suit,

which I thought was just a bit more festive.

It s really wonderful.

And had nothing to do with punk.

Except that Rei, I guess, is a punk in her own way.

I think you re channeling.

Yeah. It s punk without the musical reference.

Marc, you grew up in New York.

What do you remember about the punk years here?

Well, what I remember is that there was,

well, the New York punks, for sure,

had a kind of style with substance

and there was a social significance to that style.

I mean, I think punk style in New York

came from thrift shops, basically,

and it was what, how you wore them, your attitude,

the cuffs that you cut off or removing a collar,

or wearing something too small or too big.

You know, wearing things that were conflicting.

Yeah, it was cool, as opposed to London punk,

which, I think, was all about Vivienne Westwood.

That style was really her creation.

Thanks, Marc. Have fun out there.
