This morning, Kate Middleton and Prince William paid a visit to the Mumbles Pier in South Wales. The Duchess of Cambridge looked polished for the occasion, choosing affordable pieces such as a double-breasted navy coat by the British high-street label Hobbs. She styled it with a heart-printed scarf and a red Zara dress underneath, which had a midi-length hemline.
Falling below the knee but above the ankle, Middleton’s dress is a tricky silhouette to wear. The key to successfully pulling it off all lies in the choice of shoe. Middleton paired hers with suede knee-high boots by Stuart Weitzman. It was the perfect style to wear with the look: Stiletto sandals would have been all wrong for winter, while ankle boots would have left an awkward gap between skirt and shoe.
