Cathy in red garters? While the look may not have flown in Emily Brontë’s world, it’s totally on the table for Margot Robbie.

After Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, all but reinvented the modern press tour with Barbie, it should come as no surprise that the duo had much in store for her Wuthering Heights promo. While they’ve tapped Chanel, Thom Browne, and Schiaparelli to create custom Brontëesque (or, perhaps more accurately, Brontë-adjacent) looks, they just pulled off their biggest surprise yet with an impressive archive pull.

For the film’s London photocall, Robbie donned a bold look from John Galliano’s spring 1992 collection. Like if Penny Lane met Empress Joséphine, Robbie wore a full-length toile coat with pale pink shearling at the cuffs and neckline. Beneath, she stayed true to the runway look, her black micro miniskirt and garter belt that fastened onto red thigh-high hosery with a pink ribbon.

Robbie’s only major styling diversion came from her choice of footwear. Instead of the fuller coverage, two-toned shoes Helena Christensen wore on the “Napoleon and Joséphine” runway, Mukamal chose for Robbie to wear a pair of pale silver, pointy-toe pumps.

Much like the film’s unorthodox costumes, Margot Robbie is taking creative liberties with her method dressing.
