This Week, Celebrities Embraced Unabashed Glamour

With New York Fashion Week and awards season in full swing, it’s only fitting that the world’s style-setters embraced unabashed glamour—read: full diva—for premieres and parties: wild plumage, bold colors, mega ruffles, encrusted sequins. At Rodarte’s Fall 2019 show (at the Huntington Gardens in San Marino, California) attendees embraced the label’s subversive romantic aesthetic: Brie Larson in power-pink lace ruffles and massive bow, Lucy Boynton in sweet yet sultry tiered black tulle.
In New York, the annual amfAR Gala saw singular spins on black-tie dressing with model Ebonee Davis in a blush-pink power suit, cinched at the waist with a safety buckle, and metallic Western boots. Karolina Kurkova, also at amfAR, went strapless, minimal, and voluminous in magenta silk by Oscar de la Renta. Other notables? Amy Adams in a feather-trimmed Andrew Gn gown at the Paris premiere of Vice; Dua Lipa in a golden sequin column by Prada at the Los Angeles premiere of Alita: Battle Angel.
The final verdict? Each week sees some golden celebrity style moments, to be sure—but this time of year, it’s always next-level. And given the theme of the next costume exhibition at the Met is “camp,” well, this week was a perfect precursor to that red carpet, too.
