Nordstrom VP Olivia Kim Breaks Down Her Laid-Back Seattle Style
For Olivia Kim, Nordstrom’s VP of creative projects, the pleasures of life in Seattle are simple: “The light, the air, the nature, and the produce!” The same is true of her go-to getup for both intimate soirees (“I’m an introvert, so I really like smaller, more meaningful gatherings, especially in my home,” she says) and breakfasts with visiting family. Kim loves a “dressed-down dress”—that is, a fancy frock from the likes of Simone Rocha, Comme des Garçons, or Dries Van Noten, styled with lower-key footwear and accessories. “I have always loved taking a statement dress and pairing it with sneakers to take the wow factor down,” she says. “At home, this just means wearing it with my house slippers.”
When it comes to makeup and skin care, Kim can’t resist a K-beauty moment. “My favorite brands are Sulwhasoo, Skin RX Lab, Whal Myung, Knours, and Eco Your Skin,” she gushes. Otherwise, as the mother of a 9-month-old, Kim tends to dress for her tiny (and highly amusable) audience. “[My daughter, Cleo,] loves anything shiny, embroidered, patterned or dangly, so it’s fun to throw on something wild once in a while,” she says. “I just can’t get upset if drool or food winds up on it.”
