Start with the world’s top models, dress them in the curviest clothes going, and send them out to a Michael Jackson soundtrack, and you have Olivier Rousteing s Spring 2016 show for Balmain. Find all the details of the designer’s latest here.
1. The show was staged, as usual, in Paris’s Hotel Intercontinental, but there were more seats than ever before, maybe on account of all the front row VIPs.
2. As always, a flock of celebrities turned out for the show. This season’s front row included Diplo, Jada Pinkett Smith, Travis Scott, Joe Jonas, and Kris Jenner.
3. Fans didn’t have to wait until showtime to get a glimpse of the Spring collection. Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid accompanied Rousteing to Vogue’s dinner for Instagram s Kevin Systrom last night wearing looks from the collection.
4. Famed Brazilian model Caroline Ribeiro opened the show in a caramel suede jacket and cigarette pants.
5. But Ribeiro wasn’t the only famous face to take a turn on the Balmain catwalk. Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana, Lily Aldridge, Joan Smalls, Constance Jablonski, Lily Donaldson, Magdalena Frackowiak, Daria Strokous, and Nadja Bender all walked.
6. Rousteing also cast a fair share of modeling’s rising stars (and Instagram queens): Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Taylor Hill, Stella Maxwell, and Bella Hadid.
7. The Balmain woman this season is a lesson in contrasts. Yes, she loves a body-baring lattice dress with crystal embellishments, but she’s also keen on soft, fluttering ruffles.
8. Nearly every look of the collection featured a tightly cinched waist accentuated with an oversize belt.
9. There was no shortage of statement-making jewelry on the runway, either, from the dangling chandelier earrings to the oversize metal collars that accompanied many looks.
10. What does Olivier Rousteing do after his Spring collection? Take some showstopping selfies, of course.
