In London’s Sky Garden Christopher Kane went for it with a bright and bold Spring 2016 collection that will leave crowds talking for some time. Find out everything you need to know about Kane s exciting showing here.
1. Staged in London’s Sky Garden, Christopher Kane’s Spring 2016 show was set against large square arches lined with gleaming neon mirrors.
2. Show notes spoke of a “crash and repair” theme and the idea of “creation coming from destruction.” Artists John Chamberlain and Scottie Wilson were also referenced as inspirations.
3. The show opened with a black suit with cutouts at the elbows and knees worn with a paint-splattered top with geometric edges.
4. From there, Kane’s love affair with neons continued for Spring, with many lace pieces coming down the catwalk in bright green, lemon, orange, and shocking pink.
5. Most models sported crisscross strap sneakers in neon colors with a push-buckle clasp, a Christopher Kane signature.
6. Kane also offered another vote of confidence for squared-toed, stiletto-heeled boots. The style was seen earlier in London Fashion Week at J.W.Anderson.
7. Christopher Kane isn’t limiting the see-through trend to his tops and dresses—his Spring handbags also come in transparent PVC.
8. Here’s a hairstyling tip courtesy of Guido Palau you likely didn’t think of before: Use zip ties to create ponytails or band hair around your neck. The zip-tie theme continued into the clothing, where it served to secure slits and provide accents on dresses.
9. Averse to bright colors? Don’t fret. Kane’s squiggle embroideries and snakeskin bags will serve his strictly neutral-wearing fans.
10. Several finale dresses echoed the pieced-together nature of Fall 2015 s Lovers Lace dresses, but this time around the nude bodies were replaced by geometric shapes that gave way to silk fringe at the hems.
