They’ve been beach bunnies, abstract artists, and ’80s dames, but this season J.W.Anderson’s women are some type of cross between a Keith Haring squiggle and a medieval princess. Hard to imagine? You don’t have to. See our instant show pictures here, and find the 10 talking points of the show below.
1. Prior to the show, the brand’s Instagram account sent out clues to the collection. Among the images posted were dictionary entries for anonymity, fame, and joke. Hmm. . .
2. The show’s set featured a gold and silver runway, while guests sat on rose gold—tinted benches. Could this be the new iPhone 6s’s first fashion endorsement?
3. The first look out was a tiny black underwire bra worn with high–waisted pastel pink trousers, knotted at the ankle.
4. From there the bralette theme continued with the black style worn over or built into clinging zip–up knits.
5. We’ve seen mutton sleeves on the rise recently, but none as voluminous as those shown at J.W.Anderson today.
6. Several bags made appearances on the runway, from the messenger styles models worn two at a time to the more practical gray and buttercup hobo toted by Harleth Kuusik.
7. Brace yourself for the return of square-toed shoes. Anderson’s came as pumps, heeled oxfords, and leather ankle boots.
8. We’ll leave it up to you to decide if the overstuffed and ruffled bosoms on a selection of beige and slate separates is a statement on femininity, structure, or both.
9. Amid the volume were several close-to-the-body tulle, lace, and leather looks that harked back to the revealing/concealing themes of early Anderson collections.
10. Models were made up with glowing skin and rose-tinged cheeks—a play on the sweet-versus-hard themes that played out in the clothes.
