A statement coat is first and foremost a practical (read: warm) trend, and one that essentially makes the rest of your outfit inconsequential—no one will know you’re wearing the same old sweater underneath.
Of course, the main obstacle to super-luxe outerwear is that it tends to come with equally luxe price tags. Not so for Diletta Bonaiuti, who we spotted at the Milan men’s shows wearing a chocolate-brown sheepskin jacket by French label Sandro. (Consider it the Gallic equivalent of Vince or A.L.C.) The ’70s-inspired layer just so happens to be on sale right now—run, don’t walk!—and there are plenty of sizes left for the taking. With subzero temps and 30-mph winds on the forecast, we can’t think of a better way to spend our cash this weekend.
