Call it the year of the superhero, or rather, superheroine. With more actresses starring in epic franchises including Batman, X-Men, and Star Wars in the coming year, there’ll be no shortage of on-screen and real-world glamazons. Here, a few names to watch out for on and off the red carpet in 2016.

She appeared in Straight Outta Compton and played Aaliyah in the television biopic about the pop star, and 2016 will see Shipp channel one of her acting idols, Halle Berry, as she plays Storm in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Undoubtedly she’ll leave the action and adventure to the screen but sport equally thrilling looks while promoting the film.
