In a blue-lit room at Spring Studios, Joseph Altuzarra presented his Fall 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week this evening. Soundtracked by Michel Gaubert, the runway show was filled with Altuzarra signatures—see the lush outerwear, second-skin pencil skirts, glimmering paillette dresses—and plenty of new propositions like patterned trousers and textural knits. Here, the seven talking points from the show, for reading while you wait for Nicole Phelps s review.
- Lattice archways were erected inside Spring Studios to reflect the linear nature of Altuzarra’s Fall collection.
- Emily Ratajkowski, Jaime King, and Kate Bosworth were perched in Altuzarra’s front row.
- Altuzarra debuted a new bag shape on the runway: a chain strap flap bag in burgundy leather.
- Just in time for today’s cold spell, Altuzarra showed oversize outerwear in various forms. A shag sweater–moto jacket combo will appeal to a more streetwise clientele, while a black-and-red-striped fur is pure class.
- Models sported abstract black eyeliner, each girl’s style different from the rest.
- Scarf hem dresses made up a sizable portion of the collection, shown layered over turtlenecks.
- The show closed with sequin scarf dresses with delicate trim.
