While some A-listers are spending their remaining weeks of summer in the south of France, the shores of the Hamptons, and everywhere in between, Amal Clooney was back in London, refreshed from her jaunt to the Italian coast with George Clooney. And while the human rights attorney embraced colorful prints and mod silhouettes during her holiday—even coordinating with her beau—Mrs. Clooney’s summer wardrobe for the city is decidedly more pared-back.
We’ve seen fanciful and feminine ensembles from Giambattista Valli, Miu Miu, and Oscar de la Renta, but the asymmetric knits by Stella McCartney she wore yesterday had a distinctive minimalist cool about them, and were a departure from her signature style. And while it’s true that her Les Petits Joueurs top-handle tote did provide a subtle ladylike accent, the thick-sole monk straps read polished punk down to the toes.
