The Jimmy Choo girl loves a party. So to toast the London-based brand’s 20th anniversary yesterday evening, creative director Sandra Choi thought there would be no better place to celebrate than New York. “We are such a cosmopolitan brand, and our girl is very international,” she said. “This city is just so dynamic and has an energy unlike anywhere else. London can be so formal sometimes, but New York is real. It has a heartbeat.” An event space on Little West 12th Street in the Meatpacking District was transformed into a neon nightlife dream—the perfect backdrop for Choo’s dramatic signature stilettos.
If last night’s crowd was any indication, it was that Jimmy Choos have earned an appeal that transcends many different types of women. The host committee ranged from classic supermodels Amber Valletta, Milla Jovovich, and Sasha Pivovarova to the next generation of Choo girls like Lexi Boling, Jasmine Tookes, Taylor Hill, and Xiao Wen Ju. All of them wore their favorite Choos to step out for the affair, and all of them made a beeline for the dance floor as soon as Mary J. Blige took the stage for a live performance.
Cipriana Quann and her sister TK Wonder walked in moments after Blige wrapped her set. “Ah, I can’t believe we missed her! We got caught up at another party,” said Wonder. “We wouldn’t miss this night for anything, though,” Quann told Vogue.com. “I love wearing Choos. Especially the tallest ones. I might only be able to walk in them a short time, but I can totally dance in them all night.”
“Our girl never leaves the house without her ‘dancing Choos,’” said Choi. That turned out to be the case—Quann, Wonder, and a throng of shoe-loving partygoers kept the good times rolling until well after midnight.
