The Sex and the City televisual universe was, ever so briefly, so back—but now, friends, And Just Like That… is so over—or about to be, anyway: News broke last week that the show’s third season would be its last.
With just one new episode left to look forward to, I can’t imagine the show’s writers will be able to tie up every loose end next week. (They couldn’t even remember that Lisa’s dad had already died!) So I’m going out on a limb and making some predictions about where our beloved 50-plus girl gang will end up by the series’s end. Read them all below:
Carrie will end up with Duncan (to some degree)
In case you didn’t catch the whole meta chat on this week’s episode about whether Carrie’s “fictional protagonist” (oh, I’m so sure—you’re writing autofiction, babe!) can possibly end her story without a man, it was clearly meant to signal something about Carrie herself. And while we’ve definitely seen Carrie single—and fabulous?—many times before, I feel like the show is going to go out with her trying to get something off the ground with her crotchety-hot British neighbor, Duncan. I’m not saying they’re going to ride off happily into the sunset together, but it’s not a Sex and the City reboot without a little bit of final flirtation for the main character, right?
Miranda’s son, Brady, will become an incredible father
As of now, no, Brady’s baby mama (played to perfection by Ben Stiller’s daughter, Ella Stiller, who is also the granddaughter of Anne Meara, who played Brady’s grandmother on Sex and the City…I love history!) does not want anything to do with Brady. But I feel like we’re going to get a classic shot of Brady being handed a little blanket-wrapped bundle in a hospital delivery room and reluctantly falling in love, just like his mama did before him. At least he’ll have Miranda to take the baby for walks around Prospect Park (even if she’s talking to Carrie on the phone the whole time)!
Seema will finally go smug-married mode
We just saw And Just Like That…’s ultimate certifiable diva exchange I love yous with her handsome (if pungent) landscaper BF on this week’s episode, so I’d be kind of surprised if she didn’t end up engaged by the show’s end. No, this isn’t an Austen novel, and yes, the marriage plot has fallen out of favor, but I kind of love the idea of Seema going full bridezilla in her 50s.
Lisa Todd Wexley will cheat on her husband
I don’t want anything but happiness for this somewhat randomly thrown-in yet ultimately endearing character, but the writing has been on the wall ever since Lisa started flirting with her film editor while her husband, Herbert, became increasingly annoying about his New York City comptroller campaign (and ensuing loss). Spinoff where we get to watch Lisa navigate the world as a divorced, newly dating mom of two with Charlotte by her side? Please, God, let me speak it into existence!
Samantha Jones will make a final, jaw-dropping appearance
Okay, no, I don’t actually think this will happen, given that our always-NSFW angel Sam has been relegated to the status of a text friend—but wouldn’t it be nice?
