People, this is no joke. New York City, and Brooklyn specifically, now has its own so-called avocado bar. Before you go on assuming that the bougie borough’s latest restaurant was opened by just your average gaggle of hipsters, think again. Avocaderia, which is billing itself as the “world’s first avocado bar,” was founded by three young Italian men—Francesco Brachetti, his cousin Alberto Gramini, and their friend Alessandro Biggi. (Gramini and Brachetti are from Florence, while Biggi is from Modena, one of Italy’s best destinations for food.) The bar, which is decorated with verdant Moroccan tiles and green plants befitting an avocado-geared eatery, serves a lot more than just the clichéd toast. Yes, it’s on the menu, but Avocaderia also offers salads, bowls, and smoothies. And judging from its website, the three amici turned restaurateurs know a thing or two about setting up a culinary still life. So social media savants and novices, get your Instagram filters ready.
