Paris Fashion Week may still be a few days away, but the stylish set still had something to celebrate with the opening gala of the Paris Opera Ballet last night. Eva Herzigova, Malgosia Bela, and Aymeline Valade (all clad in Dior, one of the sponsors, the other was Rolex) attended, as did Ralph Fiennes and Sidney Toledano, who made their way up the magnificent staircase of the Palais Garnier.
Under the leadership of Stéphane Lissner, director of the Paris Opera, the season kicked off with two contemporary works, The Seasons’ Canon by Crystal Pite and Blake Works by William Forsythe. These gripping choreographies alongside the sensational Défilé du Ballet parade (with Étoile dancers dressed by Dior) brought everyone to his or her feet.
Following the performance, designers Isabel Marant, Jérôme Dreyfuss, Vanessa Seward, Julie de Libran, and Haider Ackermann made their way to dinner at the Grand Foyer, where they noshed on confit cod, quail with spinach quenelles, and chocolate Opera cake created by Le Fooding and executed by three ambassadors of the revival of French gastronomy, Alexandre Gauthier, Katsuaki Okiyama, and David Toutain.
Director of Dance Aurélie Dupont, who replaced Benjamin Millepied, made her way through the tables among infinite praises before guests headed down to the Rotonde des Abonnés where the jungle-themed afterparty continued until the early hours.
