Olivier Rousteing presented his Fall 2016 collection for Balmain at Paris Fashion Week today. As usual, his Balmain Army was out in full force, with models like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley taking turns on the catwalk while Kris Jenner and Kanye West sat front row. On the runway, Rousteing continued his explorations in monochrome, ruffles, and fringe—but you can read more about that in Nicole Phelps’ review. Here, nine things to know about the show now.
1. Kanye West and Kris Jenner sat front row, both in Balmain creations.
2. Kendall Jenner opened and closed the show with bright blonde hair. Balmain extensions, perhaps?
3. Jenner was followed by such famous models as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio, Joan Smalls, Lily Donaldson, and Gigi Hadid.
4. The show also brought out a crop of Victoria’s Secret Angels, including Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, Kate Grigorieva, Jac Jagaciak, and Josephine Skriver.
5. The ruffles and fringe we ve come to expect from Balmain continued today, cascading off minidresses and trimming the sides of pants.
6. Nearly every look was cinched at the waist, either with a corset or a metallic belt.
7. If it wasn’t obvious enough that thigh-high boots are the footwear of the season, Rousteing’s suede versions should convince you.
8. A live orchestra played for the duration of the show, segueing through famous Kate Bush and David Bowie tracks.
9. As always, Rousteing took his bow in a black double-breasted Balmain blazer.
