Heading to L.A. anytime soon? (Or just want to look like you are?) Let stylish sisters Erin and Sara Foster be your guide. After all, Erin, a comedy writer, and Sara, an actress, are born-and-bred Californians, with a family tree that includes Gigi Hadid and Brody Jenner and a brand new VH1 satirical comedy series, Barely Famous, that pokes fun at reality TV—you really can’t get more L.A. than that.
The sisters may deviate between classic film alliances—Erin holds a candle for Julie Delpy in Before Sunrise, while Sara tends toward **Diane Keaton’**s repeated turns for Woody Allen—but they both lay claim to an inherently California girl aesthetic. “I like to channel my inner Candice Swanepoel and attempt to be ‘hippie chic,’ ” Sara says. She favors flat sandals (“I know I look better in a heel, but I really only wear Birkenstocks and Havaianas”) and RE/DONE’s high-waisted light-wash denim, while Erin prefers off-duty classics like men’s button-down shirts, Levi’s cutoffs, and Converse, citing coconut oil as her must-have beauty product. ("Our mom is 64 and never tried Botox and doesn’t even get facials; all she uses is coconut oil on her face and body. So my sisters and I decided to get on that train,” says Sara.) And the two might have different festivals in mind this summer—Sara’s got her sights set on Burning Man, Erin on Stagecoach—but when it comes to their hometown, they have a singularly cool itinerary to share. Here, their five favorite spots, and how to look the part when you arrive.
