Bearson, the on-the-rise Oslo-based DJ and shining beacon of post-tropical house (splashy feel-good vibes with a slightly smarter, slightly more old-school vein of electronica), and Mark Johns, who, according to her Facebook page, is “not a dude” and is “decent at Wii tennis,” have teamed up on the hyper-catchy “Imposter,” premiering exclusively here on Vogue.com.
While only nineteen, Bearson has lit up the blogs of late with a barrage of remixes, such as one of **James Bay’**s “Let It Go,” and landed on the festival circuit this summer, including an appearance at Splash House in Palm Springs, California. The 21-year-old Johns, with her awesomely confusing name, recently befriended Kanye West and covered Yeezus’s hit, “All Day.”
“I need to have fun while making music, otherwise it doesn’t make sense to me,” says Bearson, née Jakob Bjørn-Hansen. “Imposter” is infectious with its airy loops and slightly throaty vocals, which lull and swell into an aural, iridescent ocean of high summer dream-pop bliss. Crack open a bottle of rosé, throw this on the boat’s speakers, and savor the sweet, slow drift into the sunset.
