Is Bella Hadid ready to brave an oncoming apocalypse? Trapped in a chic Stephen King novel? She certainly looks like it. Yesterday, the model stopped by Chrome Hearts in New York City to celebrate Louis Vuitton x Chrome Hearts, a temporary residence from Virgil Abloh to showcase his first Louis Vuitton Men’s collection. As she was leaving the store, Hadid was snapped wearing an Abloh-designed highlighter yellow knit vest from that Spring 2019 range. She wore it on top of an oversize light blue shirt that acted as a mini dress. To ground the leg-revealing outfit, Hadid wore a pair of Louis Vuitton’s intergalactic Archlight sneakers. The full outfit recalled Carrie Bradshaw and Lara Croft in one.

Hadid is the latest to wear the warcore look, a tactical, brace-for-bad-impact aesthetic. Hadid’s vest could be referred to as “riot-ready,” a term used to describe the trend by Vogue.com’s Steff Yotka. The vests, which were first spotted on the streetwear circuit, have been worn by many rappers, including Drake and A$AP Rocky. As for Hadid? She is the first to take the LV by Abloh piece to the street. Even if she isn’t aiming to cosplay as a stylish Resident Evil character, the vest seems to have come in handy: It looks like she used its roomy pockets in lieu of a purse.
