The Best (or…Worst?) Celebrity PDA of 2023

I love celebrity PDA. Is it puerile and stupid and kind of gross? Of course—but didn’t your heart thrill a little when you saw those now-ancient (by pop-culture standards, anyway) photos of Timmy Chimmy and Lily-Rose Depp apparently trying to devour each other’s tongues on a yacht in Capri? If 2023 hasn’t given us a moment quite like that, it has delivered plenty of semi-sloppy romantic inspiration. Below, find the very best PDA of the year…so far. (There are still a few weeks left to make the cut, famous people, so pop those Tic Tacs and get on it.)

Lupita Nyong’o and Joshua Jackson

A hard launch at Erewhon? Now that’s my kind of celeb relationship. Although I famously wanted what Jackson had with his ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, I’m totally here for these two demurely holding hands after their respective breakups.

Rosalía and Jeremy Allen White

This brand-new romance has also been punctuated by much hand-holding, but as writer Peyton Dix recently pointed out on social media, the proof may actually be in the feet.

Not even trading Starbucks for Dunkin’ has cooled things down between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who finally married last year after a prior broken engagement and continue to make out everywhere.

Who are Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, if not the most prolific and gifted PDA artists that this cruel world has ever seen? Extra points for their nude pregnancy photos, in which Barker is covering Kardashian’s boobs with his hands—presumably for a touch of elegance.

Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner

These two kept it pretty classy for the beginning of their courtship, but eventually you either die or live long enough to see yourself kiss at a Drake concert.

I’ve written before about how much I love this May December pair, and seeing them make out on the red carpet has only made me ship them even harder.

Niecy Nash-Betts and Jessica Betts

I will worship this couple in this life and the next, so I’m a little biased, but I am a major fan of the red-carpet cheek kiss. Gentle PDA, to be sure, but who doesn’t need a little more gentleness in their life?

These two are old pros at public displays of affection, but it’s nice that they still keep it fresh (and horny) after many years of marriage. Extra points for getting weird at the Met Gala!
