“The Jones Road philosophy has always been about learning to love yourself, flaws and all, and using makeup to enhance your natural features,” Bobbi Brown writes over email, revealing, in her own words, Jones Road’s secret sauce. “That was the philosophy when we launched in 2020, but it’s also been my lifelong ethos: Beauty is not only about how you look; it’s about how you feel you look. True beauty is about feeling good in your skin. Jones Road has supported this philosophy since it began.”

Brown’s philosophy has long captured the hearts of cosmetics enthusiasts near and far. To be fair, she basically started the whole no-makeup makeup thing, carving out space in the beauty world for those of us that lean more minimalist and want to use cosmetics to embrace what we already have, rather than masking, veiling, or transforming. So when she launched Jones Road in 2020, four years after leaving her namesake brand, her fans came with her. And as it turns out, the community she’s cultivated and engaged continues to be integral to her success. These “direct distribution channels,” as Brown so eloquently puts it, are “untraditional yet creative endeavors that underscore the brand’s message and also build community.” Take her Facebook group of nearly 80,000 subscribers called the JRB Roadies, for example, who roll with her every recommendation—or the YouTube series she started in March titled I Am Me, which streams conversations with inspirational women. “I’m also doing a lot more writing as a result of Jones Road,” she continues. Brown chronicled her journey in an upcoming memoir, Still Bobbi (out on September 23rd), and has even started a Substack.
It’s no surprise people want to hear what Brown has to say: She embodies her own ethos to a tee. “The reason our brand and products have such resonance is because we don’t follow trends,” she says. “The no-makeup makeup look is not a trend; I’ve been doing it in earnest for decades. It remains popular because it supports women in achieving the look that’s best for them, rather than trying to attain some external standard of beauty. It also encourages the embrace of a woman who is happy, confident, and accepting of themselves.”
Amid such a busy life, balancing various roles and time with loved ones, she has perfected her self-care routine by keeping beauty and wellness very simple. “When I get out of the shower, the first thing I put on is moisturizer,” she says. “Depending on how dry my skin feels, I use either our light moisturizer or the Jones Road Miracle Cream, and then I’ll apply sunscreen—a nonnegotiable every day, not just in the summer. ” Then, after that, she might apply a bit of the Just Enough Tinted Moisturizer for a light veil of coverage, and spot-correct the undereyes or redness with her Face Pencil, before a wash of Miracle Balm to the cheeks, black mascara, and tinted lip balm.
Over my years as a writer and editor, I’ve really grown to love Jones Road and admire Brown’s POV; so much so, that I’ve made it a point to try her full collection—some products I’ve liked, others I’ve wholeheartedly loved. Below, a look at the best Jones Road products, along with some incredibly helpful tips from Brown on how to apply them and what concerns they’re best for.
The Blush: Jones Road Miracle Balm
- Why We Love It: Before writing this story, I asked Brown what product was the perfect introduction to the brand. Behold: the Miracle Balm, which she previously told me was actually a “brilliant mistake.” Managing to turn a lab sample gone wrong into a certified classic, this can be a blush, highlighter, or bronzer, depending on the shade you use. “It’s beloved because it’s easy to use; it delivers on the natural no-makeup makeup look that the brand was founded on, and the product works!” she says. When you put Miracle Balm on, it instantly makes you look better.” No matter which shade most suits your look, remember to break the seal for enhanced pigment. Just press your finger into the pot to break the seal on the surface and blend, blend, blend away. “Many writers and beauty experts have called Miracle Balm a category-creator, because there was nothing like it on the market when we launched it. I’m very proud of that.”
- Key Ingredients: Jojoba seed oil
- Shades: 13
- Size: 50.0 g / 1.75 oz.
The Sunscreen: Jones Road Everyday Sunscreen
- Why We Love It: Brown has truly crafted something special with her first sunscreen, which uses color-correcting pigments to neutralize the unwanted, bluish tones you’d expect from a mineral SPF. Though this is powered by zinc oxide to shield against UV rays, trust there’s no white cast or chalkiness—of course, a very important characteristic to Brown. With a natural soft, matte finish, this is what she previously called the “ideal base” that might make passersby say, “Wow, your skin looks great.”
- Key Ingredients: Zinc oxide 15.9%, argan oil, vitamin E, bisabolol, propanediol
- Shades: 4
- Size: 50 ml / 1.69 fl. oz.
The Mascara: Jones Road The Mascara
- Why We Love It: Per Brown, the mascara “checks all the boxes: an inky, ultra-pigmented black mascara that is clean, vegan, and conditioning.” It has nourishing benefits by way of vitamin E enriched in its rich pigment that sweeps across the lashes via a curved wand. The shape is apt to lift and volumize each lash from corner to corner. “It’s everything, and that’s why there’s only one!”
- Key Ingredients: Vitamin E
- Shades: 1
- Size: 14.7 g / 0.51 oz.
The Tinted Moisturizer: Jones Road Just Enough Tinted Moisturizer
- Why We Love It: The brand’s second all-over complexion solution (second to its first product, the WTF Foundation), Just Enough Tinted Moisturizer is just the right thing to throw on to look put-together before a busy day or build up for more statement-making glam. The draw to it is its ease—there’s not much not to like. “It offers lighter-weight moisture, lighter coverage, and a lighter finish—yet is still effective at covering redness and evening out the complexion on all skin types,” Brown previously explained. It’s the “right combination of coverage and hydration that makes the skin feel as good as it looks.”
- Key Ingredients: Sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, vitamin E
- Shades: 16
- Size: 50 ml /1.69 fl. oz.
The Color Corrector: Jones Road The Neutralizer Pencil
- Why We Love It: Color correcting is an integral part of the Jones Road sunscreen, but that wasn’t the first product to cater to redness and discoloration around the face. Meet The Neutralizer Pencil. “They both brighten and color correct darkness around the eyes and along the face,” Brown says. “They are peachy or pinky in hue, and therefore should be followed up with a layer of The Face Pencil to even out complexion.”
- Key Ingredients: Shea butter, castor seed oil, candelilla wax, carnauba wax
- Shades: 9
- Size: 2.9 g / 0.1 oz.
The Eyeliner: Jones Road The Best Pencil
- Why We Love It: No, this is not a lip liner—it’s actually meant to enhance les yeux. “It’s the best eyeliner I’ve ever used, as it goes on easily,” Brown raves. Shade brown is her go-to, what she describes as a neutral color that everyone looks good in. “I also use it to fill in my brows, and in a pinch, I’ll even use it to cover up any grey roots visible in the part of my hair.”
- Key Ingredients: Vitamin E
- Shades: 6
- Size: 1.14 g / 0.04 oz.
The Universal Balm: Jones Road Hippie Stick
- Why We Love It: Brown describes the Hippie Stick as “a universal balm that melts onto any area of the body—face, cuticles, and nails…anywhere you need a moisture boost.” This nourishment comes via a blend of botanical oils and butters—namely coconut, sunflower, cocoa, and shea. “I even use it on my hair to smooth out flyaways. Very much a take-it-everywhere-with-you product that you can just throw in your beach bag and be ready to go anywhere.”
- Key Ingredients: Coconut oil, sunflower oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, squalene
- Size: 75.0 g / 2.65 oz.
The Concealer: Jones Road The Face Pencil
- Why We Love It: If the Miracle Balm is Jones Road’s most recognizable product, The Face Pencil is its most underrated. While the idea of a pencil might not seem ideal for evening out one’s complexion, it’s much smoother than your grade school No. 2. Brown describes it as “a creamy yet dense concealer that provides buildable coverage to conceal redness, blemishes, and even [out] skin tone while remaining virtually undetectable.” Packed with shea butter, it’s blended with ease all over the face—and with 25 shades to choose from, there’s something for every tone. “We like to call it a makeup artist’s dream (but simple enough for a newbie to master).”
- Key Ingredients: Shea butter
- Shades: 25
- Size: 2.9 g / 0.1 oz.
The Eye Cream: Jones Road Eye Cream
- Why We Love It: Brown and I are both proponents of an eye cream. To reap its benefits, though, just be sure to apply it correctly and choose one catered to your undereye’s needs. Hers seeks to counteract dryness. “If you look in the mirror and feel like you look tired, eye cream is the first step to bring definition and brightness to your face,” Brown tells. “Don’t skip hydrating the delicate skin there.”
- Key Ingredients: Macadamia seed oil, trehalose
- Size: 13 ml / 0.43 fl. oz.
The Face Oil: Jones Road The Oil Stick
- Why We Love It: Have you ever heard of a solid oil stick? No? Me neither— that is, until I discovered this one by Jones Road. “I’ve never seen anything like it on the market!” Brown adds. “And I loved the formula too much not to have it on me at all times; I wanted packaging that was convenient and easy to throw in a bag. The Oil Stick’s push-up mechanism fits the bill for that!” Just swipe it on wherever you need a little bit of moisture along the face or body.
- Key Ingredients: Jojoba seed oil, rose hip oil, sunflower oil, apricot oil, coconut alkanes
- Size: 15.0 g / 0.53 oz.
The Eyebrow Pencil: Jones Road The Brow Pencil
- Why We Love It: This is not your average eyebrow pencil. Instead of relying on the usual blend of waxes, oils, and pigments, Brown says this “integrates tiny hairlike fibers to add dimension and fullness.” When sharpened to a pointy tip, this is excellent for tiny hairlike strokes; though when the pencil is a bit more dull, you can fill in larger sparse areas. Basically, it’s as versatile as brow products come. “Use it to achieve fluffy and feathery brows, to extend and define, or just to fill in bare patches.”
- Key Ingredients: Fibers, shea butter, castor seed oil
- Shades: 6
- Size: 1.7 g / 0.06 oz.
The Cleanser: Jones Road Soft Skin Cream Cleanser
- Why We Love It: Rich, pillowy, and sulfate-free? Yes please! This has all the makings of a reliable cream cleanser. “It effectively dissolves makeup and leaves skin feeling moisturized and velvety soft, even before moisturizer is applied,” Brown says of the formula, which is powered by natural humectants (propanediol and glycerin) to keep skin supple, and gentle surfactants to sweep away surface oils and debris without stripping skin.
- Key Ingredients: Propanediol, glycerin, coco-glucoside, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, glyceryl stearate, fatty acids
- Size: 100 ml / 3.38 fl. oz.
