Whether you’re traveling and searching for some superb stores to visit on your trip or are curious about your local vintage treasure chests, Vogue’s directory has you covered.

In Dublin’s fair city, the girls have their vintage shopping down. So get to know the Dublin vintage scene. The Irish capital is known for its vibrant spirit and sense of hospitality, so expect to be welcomed into its thrift scene with open arms. Leave one treasure trove in the famous Temple Bar neighborhood and be directed into the curated safe haven of another just a few streets over. The best vintage dealers in Dublin come from generations of scavengers and shopkeepers. While you should be prepared for a day of digging, there’s also spots that give you the treat of having done all the hard work for you.

The secondhand market reflects some of Ireland’s cultural inflection points: An allegiance to sport with racks of vintage O’Neills in every color to inspire your inner Connell, romantic skirts and bold costume jewelry that speak to the poets and writers that have made the island famous. Dublin’s most serious vintage havens show how the city wears its culture on its sleeve. Let it lead you down the cobbled streets to the best vintage stores in Dublin…

Loot Vintage

Still a relatively young kid on the city’s vintage block, Loot is a vintage concept store that first opened in 2022, and it’s where you’ll find a compact, curated luxury secondhand collection. Think Prada accessories, Roberto Cavalli printed trousers, JPG graphic tees, sunglasses, and sumptuous fur jackets to boldly beat the Irish sea breeze. Loot also houses its specialist womenswear vintage from Reverie and impressive menswear selections by Heritage in-store. Housed in a small space, owner Emma Fraser has made Loot a considered and breezy feeling interior so you can shop mindfully. Plus, you can pick up an indie magazine at the till.

A Store Is Born

Everyone from Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain to Florence and the Machine has ducked their heads beneath the shutters of the transportive A Store Is Born since it first opened in 1983. The walls are dappled with embroidered silk kimonos and scarves in all colors, art deco styles, and paisley prints, and evening bags that span the ’20s to the ’60s. The selection of cashmere and thick cable knits skew into jewel tones. It’s also been a go-to for the city’s historic theater and film industry, with costume designers picking up pieces to clothe the cast of the Liam Neeson– and Julia Roberts–starring drama Michael Collins.

Nine Crows

Head past the National Leprechaun Museum, over the River Liffey, and a bit deeper into the famous Temple Bar area. Forgo a pint—for a bit, anyway—and venture inside Nine Crows. Greeted by some eclectically dressed mannequins, it’s a vast collection of pieces that line the walls without feeling the dreaded vintage store overwhelm. The stock is a technicolor tribute to all things ’90s and ’00s across menswear, womenswear, and accessories: grungy plaid kilts, acid wash denim, moto jackets, and Penny Lane coats in abundance, as well as some reworked pieces. Keep an eye on its Instagram for up-to-the-minute delivery updates if you want to score a pristine Y2K Guess bag or the like.

Jenny Vander Vintage

Jenny Vander is one of Ireland’s oldest vintage shops, opening its doors back in 1974 and establishing itself with a sweet selection of true vintage eveningwear and accessories. Whether you’re a debutante, prom queen, or cocktail o’clock attendee, there’s a dress for any occasion: lacey ’70s dresses; beaded chiffon cinched gowns from the ’60s, and yards of salmon pink tulle. Opulent glass jewelry cabinets display pieces by color: Chunky chartreuse cocktail rings will sit alongside elegant fuchsia and gold-studded broaches and rose-toned art deco bracelets. There’s always a wide selection of beads too: colored gemstones, agates, and carnelian included that you could accessorize or upcycle with.

Sacred Heart of Vintage

Sophie McQuade comes from a vintage lineage—her father, Frank McQuade, is in the trade too with his own iconic ’50s-focused Flip Vintage franchise. Sophie’s Sacred Heart of Vintage store sits above the original Flip on Temple Bar Square. It’s a fun space with original ceiling decals, a jaunty chandelier, a set of antlers on the wall, and an oxblood wooden floor. Sacred Hearts and crucifixes decorate the space, and there’s a wicker box of store logo-emblazoned matches to pick up. McQuade focuses on quality outerwear, denim, and Y2K accessories, but the racks are heaving with pan-generational and aesthetic-agnostic possibilities.

Tola Designer Vintage

Less than a minute’s walk from the aforementioned Sacred Heart, you’ll Tola Vintage, a checkerboard-floored flagship where gargantuan rummage sales bring you sports jackets and teeny tops for as little as €5. But head out further to College Green and you’ll find Tola’s more curated store of vintage clothing: Stone Island, Louis Vuitton, Jil Sander, Gucci, and more. In a glass cabinet in the middle of the store sits a range of high-end wallets, sunglasses, and jewelry. The bright and airy space makes for a more meditative experience.

Badlands

This one is a distinctly Western affair, with cowboy boots and Stetsons lining the shelves above your head. It’s also a particularly good stop-off for workwear lovers, Carhartt heads, Saved by the Bell–esque sweater fans, and anyone who has yet to find the perfect pair of Levis 501s—top tip, they’re in here! The original store front was an old-school clock maker, but inside, it’s a delightfully chaotic warren of wares. The Badlands staff are always a laugh: Happy to help you out or (lightly!) take the piss out of your hanger-heavy arms.
