Vogue’s guide to the best vintage stores in Madrid is part of our directory of the very best vintage around the globe, curated by editors from all over. Whether you’re traveling and searching for some superb stores to visit on your trip or are curious about your local vintage treasure chests, Vogue’s directory has you covered.

Vintage-wise, cities with serious fashion scenes mean great things. If a city’s habitues prize being well dressed, it ll translate into a thriving vintage scene where once-new pieces end up at flea markets, resale shops, and more. All this to say, the vintage shopping in Madrid is not to be missed.

Antique jewelry buffs will delight at the Art Nouveau and Art Deco offerings, which can be found at the Bárcena showroom. If you’re looking for a slice of Americana, head to Friperie Madrid, where Levi’s jeans reign. And for a true vintage shop where collectible pieces from each decade are carefully curated, Pilar Ilusión is the place to know.

All these recommendations and more are in the below list of the best vintage stores in Madrid, which has been curated with the help of the editors at Vogue Spain.

Friperie Madrid

Though touted as one of Madrid’s best vintage spots (and, per Vogue Spain, as “where the coolest people in Madrid shop”), Friperie smacks of Americana. With a wide selection of vintage Levi’s and US military clothing, you won’t find vintage flamenco dresses here. Its owner, Xin Jing, scours vintage markets and then whittles the selection down: “When I order military clothing, I can’t order five size-S green pants or three camouflage shirts. I have to order a 500-kilo bundle that includes everything and from all periods. It’s like waiting for the lottery; I get nervous and I pray for luck.”
