Vogue’s guide to the best vintage stores in Mumbai is part of our directory of the very best vintage around the world, curated by editors from all over. Whether you’re traveling and searching for some superb stores to visit on your trip or are curious about your local vintage treasure chests, Vogue’s directory has you covered.

You could say the vintage scene in Mumbai is budding. Secondhand has not always been a fashion priority, but things are changing fast with the introduction of slick designer resale shops. While most of India’s vintage scene is digital, there are a handful of stores worth visiting.

Case in point: the jewelry-focused Beg Borrow Steal Studio—thankfully, there’s a range of prices, so no begging, borrowing, or stealing is required! Speaking of borrowing, one of the city’s most interesting vintage shops has a rental format. Two Extra Lives aims to give all their wares several extra lives by allowing shoppers to rent their jewelry, accessories, and clothing.

Below, a shortlist of the best vintage stores in Mumbai, curated with the help of our editors at Vogue India.

Beg Borrow Steal Studio

There’s only one place to shop for vintage jewelry in Mumbai and it’s Beg Borrow Steal Studio. Located in Mumbai’s Bandra neighborhood, this jewel-box store is designer jewelry heaven. There are pieces from all the fashion houses (Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent) as well as label-less baubles that are just as exciting. The majority of their inventory goes as far back as the ’60s, but there are some surprises too. Plus, there’s an assortment of accessories and footwear to round out your shopping trip.

Bodements

This is the not-to-miss vintage store in Mumbai. Founded by stylist Divya Saini (who was inspired by Parisian vintage culture), Bodements is a destination for all vintage lovers. It boats “India’s first and largest online choice for vintage” as the e-boutique is just as dreamy as their store. While there are some European designer labels, that is not its focus. Expect prairie dresses from the 1970s and slinky tops from the 1990s. There’s also an assortment of costume jewelry.

Two Extra Lives

Two Extra Lives aims to give fashion an “extra life.” Founder Anchal Notani travels the world to gather an inventory that is available for rent from the concept shop located in Pali Village in Mumbai’s Bandra neighborhood. So this is not your average vintage shop! “From a century-old Native American leather belt sourced from Anna, a collector in Barcelona, to Melisa Minca’s inventive shirt-skirt, and Agustina Ros’s hand-blown glass necklace, each piece in our store is one-of-a-kind,” Notani explains of her eclectic offerings.
