A Blush for the Bronzer-Averse: Kevyn Aucoin s The Creamy Glow Duo

How to get the most natural-looking sun-kissed glow with blush instead of bronzer

Recently, during a meeting, Vogue.com Beauty Director Catherine Piercy leaned over and whispered, “You look tan!” It was a remarkable statement considering my alabaster skin, penchant for SPF 50, and indifference to bronzer—or so I thought. I was wearing what I had considered an earthy blush the color of pink clay that I adored for its creamy texture and buildable pigment. When massaged into my skin with my fingers, took on the appearance of coming from within—akin to a healthy flush resulting from physical exertion.

Upon further inspection, the Kevyn Aucoin shade is actually called Tansoleil (i.e., suntan). And, it can be purchased as The Creamy Glow Duo #3, where it’s paired with Bettina, a peach lip and cheek tint that when pressed into the lids (as mine was that day), gives the overall effect of having spent the afternoon gazing at a sky-meets-sea horizon. This is not the cool pink of a day on the ski slopes, nor the mauve of a brisk fall bike ride, but a tawny rose bestowed by a high sun on high seas. If that’s bronzer, I’ll take it.
