Camille Rowe has summer style down pat. With a wardrobe full of evidence of her love of (and knack for finding) vintage—as well as her trademark Parisian insouciance—the flaxen-tressed model has a way of rolling out of bed, slipping on a tee or slouchy jean, and still looking fresh that hints at her youth growing up between Paris, Brooklyn, and California. The key to the stunner’s knack for easy, breezy style? Keeping it just that: Rowe prefers a pair of sandals to heels, and a bikini to a blouse, citing bohemian icons like Anita Pallenberg among her style influences. But there is one thing that Rowe will splurge on, when given the chance: a light Victorian-era frock. Not a bad way to elevate one’s look for those sun-strewn months.
Here, Rowe’s tips on navigating the summer in style.
If you could pack only 10 things for summer vacation, what would they be?
Five different books for half of the things, and Beatrice Valenzuela sandals, Eres bikini, Goldies Healing Salve, Littledoe straw hat, and my film camera.
Do you have a sartorial “spirit animal” or anyone from past or present whose style you admire?
Anita Pallenberg or Bonnie Parker.
What do you look for when shopping for investment pieces?
I will buy Victorian tea dresses and the like, but I don’t really think about them as investment pieces—just beautiful and vintage things.
What is your favorite pair of jeans and why?
My favorite is a thin, navy, cropped-and-flared vintage pair because they fit me perfectly.
What is your favorite denim brand?
Re/Done.
What are your favorite T-shirts?
Mostly vintage and Rag
Bone.
What do you like to sleep in? Pj’s? Old tee? Birthday suit?
Birthday suit, but sometimes a T-shirt.
What are your favorite undies?
Petit Bateau. I’ve been wearing the same brand of underwear since I was a baby.
Are you an accessories girl?
I’m not huge on accessories, though I love sunglasses. I don’t really think of them as completing a look. I mainly wear them because I have sensitive eyes.
