And while her bombshell blonde hair and icy gaze proved eye-catching, the real star of the frame was the arch of her growing six-month baby bump—which Swanepoel showed off in a strategic nude capture that confirms why pregnancy is a force of feminine nature.
"The path between spiritual and the physical...aren t women amazing?!" wrote the supermodel in the caption accompanying the body-affirming shot. Throughout both her pregnancies—she gave birth to son Anacã in 2016—the Victoria s Secret model and modern day pin-up has refused to suppress her signature sensuality. And why should she? As part of a new movement of women who use mediums like Instagram to associate pregnancy with sexuality and strength (and refuse to subvert their identity in the process), she s breaking taboos and normalizing the most natural of life events, not to mention new motherhood. In a world where #MeToo and equal pay for women are being tackled head on and many companies refer to maternity leave as "disability leave," the reminder is more than welcome.
