Criticism has been mounting on Trump and his administration for their slow response to Puerto Rico, and for many, his attack on San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz after her pleas for help proved to be the last straw. After an emotional press conference yesterday, one in which Cruz warned that the situation on the island might escalate to a “genocide,” Trump slammed Cruz as “nasty,” accused her of “poor leadership,” and wrote that “they want everything to be done for them.”

This did not sit well with many of our most beloved stars, who quickly took to Twitter to express their dismay. This might be the reason that a short while later, Trump deleted the comments and tweeted about Puerto Rico’s “great people.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda led the barrage of angry responses of the morning, writing, “She has been working 24/7. You have been golfing.”
