Bella Hadid Masters the Art of Beauty With Christian Dior

There was no shortage of beauty at last night’s two-pronged celebration for Christian Dior’s new tome, _Dior: The Art of Color_—a photographic celebration of the fashion house’s rich cosmetic history. The evening began with a gallery-style showcase on West 14th, where large-scale prints of the book were mounted and enjoyed by the well-heeled guests who sipped cocktails to Nikki Pennie’s DJ set. In a sequined turtleneck and leather jumper by Dior, model Julie Hoomans admired the images, many of which included her own likeness in a rainbow assortment of bold beauty looks. “This whole wall is me, which is crazy!” admitted Hoomans as she pointed out the takeaway posters (prints from the book) on offer as party favors, “I’ve asked them to send them to me; I can’t go home with twelve posters underneath my arm!”

Peter Philips, creative and image director of Christian Dior Makeup, and also Vogue Snapchatter for the evening, explained: “The book really tells the story about how Dior evolved.” And if the guests last night were any indication, today’s iteration of the brand is a winning combination of ladylike and tough girl chic. A gaggle of fresh-faced, pretty young things bedecked in Dior stole the show, with Bella Hadid as their ringleader. Hadid turned up in a pale tulle look by Maria Grazia Chiurifor Dior, fresh off the runway. “Do you know how hard it was to get any piece from this collection,” said Hadid. “I feel so lucky to be able to wear it!” Other guests in Dior included Hailey Baldwin, Daphne Groeneveld, Soko (on the eve of her 31st birthday), Leigh Lezark, Jasmine Sanders, and more.

A couple of hours later, the gallery crowd reconvened across town at Indochine for a dinner hosted by Hadid (now in a black leather midi dress also from the latest collection) and V Magazine’s Stephen Gan. And the glamour kept pouring in. Dinner attendees included Devon Windsor, Lily Donaldson, Hilary Rhoda, A$AP Ferg, and more. Cohost Gan admitted, “I’ve never been able to get Bruce Weber, Inez and Vinoodh, Steven Klein, Mario Sorrenti, and Craig McDean together in one night so I just feel honored that they’re all here tonight.” He continued, “It was really about getting a cool, gorgeous group of people together and bring out the best of New York.”
