Ciara has been ramping her maternity style for the past few months, and tonight, on the AMAs red carpet, she took it to the next level. “The dress fit all of my dream goals for dressing my bump,” said Ciara of her custom Stephane Rolland black and white frock via email before the show. “I knew it right away.” The form-fitting turtleneck silhouette was a refined twist on the body-con look favored by many A-list mothers-to-be in the past, including Chrissy Teigen and Kim Kardashian West. With its minimalist elegance, the dress certainly stood in stark contrast to the razzle-dazzle ensembles that seemed to have dominated the evening so far. “I wanted something that would be comfortable on my belly and stylistically unexpected,” said Ciara, “It felt young, fresh, and cool.”
That cool factor came via a quietly dramatic bubble hem; its asymmetric line revealing a pair of well-toned legs. “I kept the accessories simple,” said Ciara of her platform ankle-strap stilettos. “The dress itself was an accessory." We’d go one step further, and say the dress was the main event.
