Season 2 of Netflix’s The Crown premieres on December 8, and it seems that Claire Foy is, once again, echoing the Emmy-nominated show s trajectory with her own metamorphic hair. The actress stepped out at last week s premiere in London having traded her abbreviated, glossy brunette bob for a gamine close-crop—a shift seemingly inspired by her evolving onscreen look as Queen Elizabeth II— that was the very embodiment of a fresh new start.
Rather than appearing demure in its sophistication, Foy s pixie found flair in its slightly offbeat attitude, with her sideswept brunette hair framing her face at the front, and freshly-snipped strands tapering toward the nape of the neck. Stylized sides took their cues from the Kristen Stewart grow-out plan—overgrown and spritely—the overall moment offering a charming, cheeky take on more classic iterations of the look. Foy kept makeup to a minimum for the big reveal, barely-there pink lipstick commingling with shimmering lids and a swipe of mascara for a feel that had onlookers craning their necks toward springtime. But as winter nears, what could be better than a surprise makeover—and a new season of The Crown?
