This fall has seen the return of the statement coat in a major way. Whether it’s minimal master Sienna Miller slipping on a neutral version or Academy Award–winning actress Lupita Nyong’o in a graphic, artistic hooded option, the possibilities are endless. But earlier today in London, actress Daisy Ridley brought back a tried-and-true version, the cozy teddy-bear coat.
While it’s a look we’ve seen on the runways at Burberry, Proenza Schouler, and Victoria Beckham, Ridley takes a largely monochromatic approach in varying shades of blue. The midnight color of her coat juxtaposes with the deep ocean hue of her dress, while sapphire Jimmy Choo stilettos lend a ladylike finish with polish. And as for the nubby texture of her outerwear? No doubt Chewbacca would approve.
