But what if you are that person who finds herself falling into a flourishing romance with a fellow coworker? (In an environment where that’s allowed, of course.) It’s a difficult scenario, both emotionally and aesthetically.
At the relationship’s first blush, there’s that instinct to dress in an alluring fashion, and that’s fine—if you’re outside of your office. The key is to show an element of your personality in the office and a little sliver of skin outside of it. “Dress business-appropriate but make it transitional for after hours,” says Vogue.com Market Editor Chelsea Zalopany. “Try layering a sleeveless blouse with a smart cardigan or an Oxford shirt that you can easily unbutton the top button of for an evening out. It doesn’t have to be stuffy.” In other words, in the daytime, keep it His Girl Friday, but feel free to take it to Secretary levels after you clock out. (Whatever floats your boat.)
