Milan Fashion Week is coming to a close today with Dolce Gabbana’s Spring 2018 show. This time, they put the millennials in the front row, dedicated their show to a Queen of Hearts theme, and upped the ante on feathers, sparkle, and fringe. Here, we whittle down five things you need to know from the 109-look show. Check Vogue later for Nicole Phelps’s review.

The Show Opened With Sheer Black Looks Inspired by the SupersBlack, boring? Not in the hands of Dolce Gabbana. Backstage, Domenico Dolce showed off a mood board of supermodel images from the ’80s and ’90s showing Cindy Crawford, et al., in transparent black dresses and lacy lingerie. That was interpreted on D&G’s runway today as sheer suiting, filmy black dresses, and corseted frocks that evoked the glamorous spirit of the age of the supes.

There Was No Shortage of Heart PrintsDolce Gabbana take their themes literally, so it’s no surprise that the deck was stacked with Queen of Hearts–prints today. The playing card figure appeared bedazzled on dresses or printed on diaphanous chiffon. And while the rest of the collection was fleshed out with food and animal prints, there were no flamingoes to be found. This Queen of Hearts is less “off with their heads!” and more “on with the party!”

Finally, A Cannoli Dress ArrivedDolce Gabbana have done pasta prints and dessert prints in the past, but never a cannoli print—until today. Mid-show, a kelly green, body-hugging dress came down the catwalk printed with rows and rows of cannoli. It wasn’t the only food print of the day: There were also cabbages, carrots, and peas.

Floral Prints Were EverywhereNever ones to go lightly, Dolce Gabbana took florals to the max today. One look had faux roses dripping down its sleeves, while another featured a model in head-to-toe black-and-pink floral prints. There was even a sequin floral catsuit—keep an eye out for which DG millennial wears that first.

There Was Just as Much Sparkle as You’d ExpectSequins, paillettes, crystals, and shimmering fabrics were the main elements of this collection, and nearly every look contained some element of shine. For day, Dolce Gabbana sent out crystal-laden coats and sparkling shoes, while for evening, there were streamlined dresses in monotone crystals and several over-the-top ensembles comprised of glittering pants, tunics, and tiaras. All the better to Instagram, we’d say.
