If you were in New York City last night, you had a chance of spotting Dua Lipa and Callum Turner partaking in a romantic date night. The couple—who got engaged this summer—hit up a Saturday Night Live after-party together, where stars like Miles Teller, Seth Rogen, Monica Barbaro, Nina Dobrev, and more partied the night away. And while they attended the bash as a united pair, their choice of going-out attire was anything but. Lipa and Turner embraced polar-opposite fashions.
Always one to look stylish, Lipa stepped out wearing a black slip dress with lace detailing, and threw a snakeskin trench overtop. The look was sexy and dressy. Turner, however, went decidedly more dressed-down: He pulled up in track pants and a sporty zip-up jacket, as though he was fresh out of a workout session. She was giving glam—he was giving (sleek) gym rat.
This opposites-attract approach to dressing is something that fellow it-couple Hailey and Justin Bieber have perfected over the years. For their many date nights, it has not been atypical to see Hailey dressed to the nines in impeccable suits and designer dresses, while Justin favors sweatsuits and his own Skylrk streetwear.
It’s not to say the couple hasn’t matched each other’s fashion levels in the past. At the Met Gala this year, for one, the duo made their red carpet debut in complementary black tie. The pop star wore black Chanel gown with a sheer fabrication and feathered embellishments, while Turner went classic in a custom Louis Vuitton suit. When they are on the step and repeat, it’s clear they put effort in coordinating—but off-duty, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner are all about marching to the beat of their own drum. Them and the Biebers should do a double date.
