14 of Amal Clooney’s Best Vintage Looks to Date

Amal Clooney is no stranger to a vintage gown. At the 2026 Golden Globes (her first appearance at the awards ceremony for a decade), the human rights barrister opted for a recreation of a red ruched column dress from Pierre Balmain’s haute couture fall winter 1957 collection. It wasn’t her only archival look of the night: for a Netflix after-party, she wore a green sequin minidress from Versace’s spring 2022 collection. (Which memorably saw the likes of Dua Lipa, Naomi Campbell, and Emily Ratajkowski take to the runway.)
In fact, Clooney regularly flies the flag for vintage on the red carpet. Take the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, when she wore a black John Galliano-era Dior dress, or last year’s Venice Film Festival, when she made a splash in a fuchsia-pink Jean-Louis Scherrer dress from fall winter 1995.
While vintage has become increasing popular on the red carpet in recent years, Amal was wearing archival fashion long before the current trend took off, opting for a dazzling Yves Saint Laurent number from 1981 while attending Berlin International Film Festival back in 2016. She also memorably wore a one-shouldered Jean-Louis Scherrer by Stephane Rolland gown while at a Prince’s Trust dinner at Buckingham Palace in 2019, sourced from William Vintage under the helm of Marie Blanchet, who now runs Mon Vintage.
On the workwear front, Amal has an enviable collection of ’60s coat dresses, ranging from Balenciaga to Courrèges, as well as two-piece suits from the likes of Christian Dior. Always exuding elegance, the mother-of-two shows how to do vintage both by day and by night.
