Whether it’s stocking up on an extra pair of shoes from your most trusted brand—for a fraction of the price, we might add—or finally splurging on that It item you were obsessed with since it walked the runway, the end-of-season sales offer a chance to add a few swoon-worthy picks to your wardrobe. Whatever 2020 has in store for you—starting a new job, planning a weekend getaway, or prepping for special occasions—now’s the time to get ahead on what you’re wearing. And the best part is you don’t have to pay full price to start the year off right.
Beautifully tailored (and deeply discounted) blazers, sweaters, and shirting are top of mind for a handful of Vogue editors. When it comes to getting ready for a busy Fashion Month, both a new pair of statement knee-high boots and a street style–worthy cow-print lady bag are on the list, too. And although the warmer days of spring feel far off, consider stocking up now on a few great items for the upcoming season — like pleated bourgeois skirts or light jackets — while they’re still heavily marked down.
Don’t let the overwhelming and seamlessly never-ending pages of sale items keep you from shopping the best scores of the season. Here’s what 14 Vogue shopping veterans have in their carts now to inspire you to get in a shopping mood.

A sweater and pant is my typical uniform, so I’m always on the lookout for a new addition. I’ve had my eye on this Dries crewneck since I saw it in the showroom.
Rickie De Sole, Head of Fashion Initiatives
I live in Manolo Blahnik shoes, and this leopard-print mule is on the top of my sale list. I have this same shoe in a few other prints, and it pairs perfectly with a cropped skinny pant or a simple black dress. Most importantly, I know they are comfortable enough that I can wear them all day.

I’ve spent the last week speaking to stores about what sold in 2019, so maybe that’s why, after hearing about tailoring, tailoring, tailoring, I’m looking for a jacket—not a jean jacket, not a down jacket, a jacket jacket. This one, from Balenciaga, on sale at Saks Fifth Avenue, is under serious consideration. It’s because of the narrow sculpted waist, the high armholes, and the defined shoulders—all that, and the fact that every time I’ve tried it, I’ve been in jeans, and it has still looked great. To go with the Balenciaga jacket, Demna Gvasalia’s brilliant twist on another wardrobe perennial: the striped cotton shirt, and this one is on sale at Neiman Marcus. It has a flap that curves and buttons under the collar. It’s a small but genius flourish that quietly but perceptibly alters a classic.

Because I can’t stop myself from buying anything pleated, I’m eyeing these Junya Watanabe and MM6 Maison Margiela pieces from the end-of-year sales.
Madeline Swanson, Accessories Editor
It’s no secret that I am a Tory girl all day all the way, so naturally I live for a good TB sale! Right now, I have my eye on this ultra-luxe (but deeply discounted!) reversible shearling coat and matching cow-print lady bag to help me survive any wintry mix that comes my way!
Alexandra Gurvitch, Market Editor
I have been dreaming about this coat from Khaite since I saw it on the runway. It is a great update on a classic trench and will keep me looking chic when the temperature drops. A sad last purchase from Barneys, a pair of The Row sandals.

I’ve been searching for the perfect black blazer for a while now, ideally one that’s nice enough to wear with trousers for my friend’s rehearsal dinner in a few weeks. This one by Victoria Beckham fits the bill with its glossy jacquard, slightly-oversized fit, and wide matte lapels.
Janelle Okwodu, Senior Fashion Writer
I’m obsessively refreshing the end-of-season sales to see when one of Hayward’s gorgeous clutches will be available. They’re not too big, not too small, and just dressy enough to be carried into any situation party season can throw at you.
Zoe Ruffner, Beauty Editor
Khaite’s deliciously fringed suede jacket, paired with the brand’s knee-high leather boots (which are, very sadly, not on sale), please!
Brooke Bobb
I’ve been eyeing this blazer from Khaite for quite a while now and would love to treat myself now that it’s on sale. In fact I’d also scoop up any of Cate Holstein’s sweaters or pants too. It’s all so good!

I don’t wear dresses often, but I always enjoy finding styles that I know I’ll come back to week after week when it comes to getting dressed for the office. The end-of-season sales are the best time for me to snag the ones I’ve had my eye on all season, like this cutout, puff-sleeve Ganni dress at $111. It’s a no-brainer for my wallet and for the upcoming awkward period between winter and spring. Same with this color-blocked trench from Rejina Pyo that’s more of an investment. In the meantime, I will be patiently waiting (okay—incessantly stalking) this perfect shoulder bag from Lutz Morris until it goes on sale.
Julie Tong, Commerce Editor
I’ve been eyeing a Wandler bag for a while, and now that it’s on sale, I might just need to take the plunge. I love how effortlessly versatile their Billy bag is. Its silhouette is spacious enough to fit all of my essentials, without any added bulk. I especially love its simple, elegant gold clasp design. The shoulder strap makes it easy to throw over my shoulder when heading out to brunch on the weekends—or to wear during my work commute. It may be unassuming, but be prepared, you’ll likely get stopped on the street by strangers asking, “Where did you get that bag?”
Willow Lindley, Accessories Director
I can t get enough of Proenza s knitwear. I love to stock up on basic knits during sale time!
Naomi Elizee, Associate Market Editor
I’m a sucker for a good pair of jeans, and I’ve been eyeing these Eckhaus Latta pants for about three months now. Now they are on sale, and I can’t wait to take the plunge and finally purchase! Even though these Marni boots are on sale, this is still a splurge moment for me; they will be a Christmas present to myself this season!
